Vision
Every piece of work starts with a purpose. Understand the brief or the problem, pin down the requirements and decide what will add real value — the mood of a photograph, the story of a film or the job an app must do.
The Guild of Digital Craft
The lifeblood of our digital world.
A guild for those who work, practise and have a craft using digital tools — from programming to 3D modelling. We share and pass on our knowledge, network and mentor. The guild also provides training and other services. This is a community for the craft that digital technology has made possible.
The process
A 3D environment, a photograph, a video or a software program — good work moves through stages. These stages are universal, in one form or another, across all human work.
Every piece of work starts with a purpose. Understand the brief or the problem, pin down the requirements and decide what will add real value — the mood of a photograph, the story of a film or the job an app must do.
Research, study and learn what the work demands, then prepare and organise before you build: a reference board for an artist, a shot list for a filmmaker, an architecture for a developer.
Test ideas while change is still cheap. Sketches, drafts, blockouts, storyboards, diagrams or a quick proof of concept in code show what works before you commit to it.
Produce the finished piece and deliver it — the final render, the graded edit, the retouched print or the shipped release — made to a standard you are proud to put your name to.

The Guild of Digital Craft was created to further the work and craft of people who make things with digital tools. Now Guild members have a vote on where it goes next.
20 September 2026
The Guild of Digital Craft is now open to artists, coders and anyone whose work is made with digital tools. Here is what that means, and how to join.
Programmer, 3D artist, photographer or filmmaker — whatever your craft, there is room for it here. Tell us what you make.
